In a word: Wow! With harddrives coming in terabytes (the mind boggles), filing stuff we put there is becoming an increasing muddle and using the standard Microsoft tools is an exercise in frustration.
So, when I read about destop.google, I couldn't get to my computer fast enough. The installation was simple but the gratification wasn't instant -- it needs a bit of down time to index the computer. After a while, though, when I googled stuff, a familiar list pops up instantly. I actually found a file I had been looking for a week ago but hadn't been able to find so I had recreated it.
My only complaint is that it brings up too much stuff but it's so much better than the "Find" tools I was using, that I'm ecstatic! I understand there are some security issues which may need to be considered but which are too baffling for me to worry about. Right now I'm just happy to have something that will allow me to find stuff without putting a file in several different folders because it might be where I would look in the future.
Thank you, Google!
